A new hotel in Gothenburg

The street, Bohusgatan is located between the largest event venues in Gothenburg. The street is quiet every day, but is activated at football games and other events at Ullevistadion. The task was to design a hotel with conference rooms, a spa and a restaurant on the existing parking lot.

By dividing the two main functions (hotel and conference) into two volumes and placing them as far out on the plot as possible, an inviting space is created in front of the hotel that captures the flow of people coming from the city center.

The hotel entrance and reception is placed between the volumes and works as a gathering and communication area. As nearby buildings are heavy and monotonous, I wanted the hotel to stand in contrast. With lightweight as concept for both construction and facades, the hotel is based on a thin steel structure with a double-skin facade.
